Description

Simply the best multi-pu rpose, universal grease on the market. Complex modified overbased calcium sulfonate grease. Exceptional mechanical stability, very high load carrying ability, and excellent resistance to water and corrosion. Well suited for most general, heavy duty and industrial applications.

AF-400 as a multi-purpose lubricant provides:

• Total cost of ownership based on life-cycle analysis with energy, lubrication intervals & machine life. ISO 14064 or 14040 compliant.
• Inventory and application errors by replacing different products.
• Nontoxic and environmentally friendly. Not WHIMIS or OSHA regulated.
• No base oil viscosity selection against machine speed for most applications as soap is an integral part of the lubricant contrary to the other greases where it simply acts as a sponge.
• Shock load and vibration protection unique to Prolab.
• Grease-4-life or extended in high temperature or wet conditions.
• Dispensability, Centralised lubrication system compatible. Artic low temperature pumpability.
• High TBN: protects against acid attack.
• Water: absorbs water without changing consistency or losing corrosion protection including salt water or fertilizer amonious hydroxide.
• Dielectric.
• Inherent to the soap is corrosion resistance, antioxidant, high dropping points and EP/antiwear properties.
• High temperature above drop point: Grease structure reforms contrary to all lithium greases.

Applications

Use as an upgrade or replacement for most applications:

• High temperature bearings, bushings and gear couplings.
• Sleeve, ball and roller bearings. (~90 % lubricated with grease)
• Bushings, spring shackles and couplings.
• Conveyors, forklift mast slides, stirrers & mixers, fans, blowers, pumps.
• Power shovel bucket pins
• Hinge and bucket pins. Moly-2 and GW-5 also applicable.
• Shock-loaded or vibrating components.
• Machinery and industrial (continuous casters, conveyors, ball mills crushers).
• Automotive: chassis, ball joints, universal joints, wheel bearings, constant velocity joint, steering rack, chassis, etc. Chassis, king pins, u-joints and tie rods.
• Construction, industry, mining, pulp and paper manufacturing, forestry, agricultural, railroads & steel mills.
• Small appliances.

Not for the following:

• High speed > 3500 rpm : use GS-1000.
• Food plants requiring NSF H1: use GSA-6000 grades 0 and 2.
• Continuous operating temperature > 200°C without an autolub or the thickener will fuse.
• Cylindrical roller or large electric motors that require higher shear stability.

Prolab recommends the use of grease analysis, ultrasound greasing to avoid over-lubrication and vibration analysis where useful.

Warnings

Protect against dust to avoid contaminating the product. As with all petroleum products, good hygiene should always be practiced. Avoid prolonged contact to skin, splashing into the eyes or ingestion.
